Registration fees for the 2019 Texas EMS Educators Summit is $310 ($300 for Texas Association of EMS Educators members) if registered by March 20, 2019.  Registration fees increase to $350 ($340 for members) after March 20, 2019. Become a member at Texas Association of EMS Educators. Dates for the Summit are April 12, 2019 from 2:00p.m. to 6:45p.m. and April 13, 2019 from 7:30a.m. to 5:30p.m.

Coordinator Update:  $25 if registered by March 20, 2019. $35 after March 20, 2019. Coordinator Update is scheduled for Saturday, April 13, 2019 from 4:30p.m. to 5:30p.m.

Item Writing, National Registry Style Workshop:  $75 if registered by March 20, 2019. $95 after March 20, 2019. The Item Writing Workshop is scheduled for April 12, 2019 from 8:00a.m. to 12:00p.m.  Workshop is presented by Dennis Priebe, PhD, Test Administration Manager.

  • Course Description: CE: Additional, 4 hours.  We know you’re a good instructor, but how good are your test items? Quality test items will allow you to assess your students’ level of knowledge accurately. Come hear from the experts! In this session, NREMT Test Administration Manager Dennis Priebe, PhD, will teach you strategies for brainstorming and assessing test content, item writing guidelines to follow, and techniques to build quality control into your test development process. This session is essential content for anyone who makes and uses tests as a part of their job.

Mental Health in EMS Workshop:  $85 if registered by March 20, 2019. $100 after March 20, 2019. The Mental Health Crisis Workshop is scheduled for April 12, 2019 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Workshop presented by Leslie Hernandez, EdD, UT Health – San Antonio.

  • Course Description:  CE: Additional, 4 hours.  It’s time we faced the facts about mental health problems in students and providers. Mental health illnesses are the leading cause of disability worldwide: One in 10 full-time employees has an addiction and one in five American adults has a mental illness. Come join veteran instructor Leslie Hernandez, EdD, as she takes a look at the extent of the problem, and learn the most effective methods of limiting and managing these important issues in our students and ourselves.

DSHS Coordinator Course:  $800 if registered by March 20, 2019. $900 after March 20, 2019. The Coordinator Course is scheduled for April 10, 2019 from 1:00pm to 6:00pm and April 11, 2019 from 8:00am to 6:00pm.

  • Course Description:  DSHS will hold the 2019 Course Coordinator Course in conjunction with the Texas EMS Educator Summit. Candidates should be prepared for two fast paced and intense days of classroom instruction to prepare to become a Course Coordinator. The occupational licensing exam will be offered at the end of the course for those who successfully complete and attend the full course.  You are encouraged to review the requirements for certification listed below before you register for the course or apply for certification; you will be asked to attest that you have reviewed and meet the requirements for certification when registering for the course. The DSHS certification process is discussed below.

    1. Must be a Texas EMS Instructor.

    2. Applications for Course Coordinator certification will be taken through DSHS online application system. No paper applications will be accepted.

    3. Applicants for certification will use the upgrade transaction from the instructor certification.

    4. Applicants will upload all of the required documentation online when applying. Documents must be in PDF format, no larger than 5MB in size, and not have a name longer than 16 characters. There is not a limit on the number of attachments you may have.

    5. No applications or money will be taken onsite at the course.

    6. Application fees are non-refundable.

    7. Please ensure you have a valid email and telephone number. Most communication will be sent by email.

    The Texas EMS Educator Summit will handle course registration. Any questions about the course should be directed to your local EMS Field Office or EMS Specialist. A light lunch will be provided on Thursday April 11.  Water and some light snacks will be provided during course breaks. You are encouraged to bring anything special you may need, should you have specific dietary requirements.

Attendees may register online by credit card or purchase order/check.

REFUNDS may be requested, subject to a 20% administrative fee, through March 25, 2019.  No refunds will be given after March 25, 2019.
